Overview

Kanchenjunga Circuit trek is off a beaten trail trek and restricted trekking area. The circuit takes close to the world's third highest peak in the world at an elevation of 8586 meters. The circuit trek situated in the eastern part of Nepal is an unexplored and pristine trekking route. Kanchenjunga circuit trek offers magnificent outlooks of popular peaks such as Mt. Makalu 8201 meters, Mt, Lhotse 8516 meters, Mt. Everest 8848 meters, and many others.

The five treasures of the high snow, the Kanchenjunga circuit trek takes trekkers between three distinct ecoregions that are broad-leaved and coniferous forests, alpine shrubs and meadows, and savanna grasslands. The Kanchenjunga circuit trek offers opportunities to experience the rich and traditional typical culture and lifestyle in this region. Kanchenjunga trekking trails follow in between the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area. The area is rich in flora and fauna. Wildlife like Impedance Pheasant, Musk deer, Himalayan black bear, red panda, and many others are found in this conservation area. Nevertheless, a remarkable valley, a striking view of the frozen lake, and the Okthang glacier also make our journey thrilling and exciting.

The high peaks exceeding 7000 meters like Kambachen 7903 meters, Janu 7710 meters, Kabru 7353 meters, Tent peak 7365 meters, and the Twins 7350 meters are also the major attraction of the Kanchenjunga circuit trek.

Kanchenjunga circuit trek is possible to visit via two camps, either the Northern Base Camp or the Southern Base camp.

Itinerary

Day 1: Fly from Kathmandu to Bhadrapur and then drive to Illam (1667 meters). Duration: 5 hours.

We take an early breakfast and make a short flight around 1 hour from Kathmandu to Bhadrapur. After, arriving at the Bhadrapur, we take a drive to Illam. Illam is the center and heart of the tea plantation area of Nepal.
Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2: Drive from Illam to Taplejung (1820 meters). Duration: 4 hours.

Day 3: Trek from Taplejung to Chirwa (1270 meters). Duration: 7 hours.

Day 4: Trek Chriwa to Lelep (1860 meters). Duration: 7 hours.

Day 5: Trek Lelep to Amjilosa (2510 meters). Duration: 5 hours.

Day 6: Trek Amjilosa to Gyabla (2730 meters). Duration: 4 hours.

Day 7: Trek from Gyabla to Ghunsa (3595 meters). Duration: 4 hours.

Day 8: Acclimatization day at Ghunsa.

Day 9: Trek Ghunsa to Kambachen (4100 meters). Duration: 4 hours.

Day 10: Rest and acclimatization day at Kambachen (4100 meters). Duration: 4 hours.

Day 11: Trek from Kambachen to Lhonak (4785 meters). Duration: 4-5 hours.

Day 12: Trek to Kanchenjunga North Base Camp (4785 meters) Duration: 6-7 hours.

Day 13: Trek from Lhonak to Ghunsa (3595 meters). Duration: 6 hours.

Day 14: Trek from Ghunsa to Sele Le (4390 meters). Duration: 5 hours.

Day 15: Trek from Sele Le to Cheram (3870 meters). Duration: 6-7 hours.

Day 16: Day tour and exploration to Kanchenjunga South Base Camp (4580 meters). Duration: 6-7 hours.

Day 17: Trek from Cheram to Torongding (2080 meters). Duration: 4 hours.

Day 18: Trek from Torongding to Yaphuding (2080 meters). Duration: 7-8 hours.

Day 19: Trek from Yamphuding to Khebang (1910 meters). Duration: 5-6 hours.

Day 20: Trek from Kebang to Khamdime (1500 meters). Duration: 5-6 hours.

Day 21: Drive from Khamdime to Bhadrapur (93 meters). Duration: 10 hours.

Day 22: Fly from Bhadrapur to Kathmandu (1400 meters). Duration: 1 hour.

Day 23: Fly to native home.
