Devendra Rai was born in the district of Solukhumbu, Sotang Rural Municipality; the lowland of Lukla and Khumbu Region. Although he was born in the lowland, he grew up in the high land of Khumbu. He did his schooling from Khumjung Secondary School in Khumjung village, above Namche Bazaar, which is one of the Hillary aided schools in Nepal. During his school life, he has seen many trekers and people involving in tourism. Since then, he used imagine about his future, being a great guide, great leader and a successful tourism entrepreneur in the his life. During this period he had also got many chances to meet with Sir Edmund Hillary, the first Everest summiter and the great inspiration and the most respectable person for the people of Khumbu Region. 
After his school, he joined to Amrit Science Campus in Kathmandu where he did Intermediate in Science. However, he coupld not carry on his further studies due to the financial matter. Since 1997, he has been in tourism in Nepal. His initial days, he started to work for a reputed company, called World Expedition, as an assistant guide. After working for  five year being as an assistant guide, he became a guide. Later on, he started working for another company called President Travel. He work there for 10 years. In 2017, he set up own company called Rai Treks and Expedition Pvt Ltd, having a great enthusiam and passion. 
In the meantime, Covid restriction came in 2019 that made difficult to run the business for two years. So the struggle is still on, but the whole team is positive for the bright future. You are heartily Welcome to Rai Treks and Expedition, Let it to serve you!
